Intratumoral manipulation of the immune microenvironment of solid tumors
ACS Nano Medicine2026Vol. 1223-249
Summary
This review discusses intratumoral immunotherapy as a strategy to treat solid tumors by directly injecting immunotherapeutic agents into the tumor. This approach increases local drug concentration and reduces systemic side effects, while also stimulating systemic immune responses that can target distant metastases and prevent recurrence. The article covers recent advances using cytokines, antibodies, pathogen-associated molecules, viruses, bacteria, and immune cells.
