Summary

This review examines biomimetic nanoparticles for detecting and treating cardiovascular disease, a broad group of heart and vascular disorders that remains a major cause of death despite established medicines. Nanoscale systems are relevant because they can localize functional materials to diseased sites, improve drug availability, and carry diagnostic or therapeutic payloads that conventional formulations may not handle efficiently. The article surveys the ways nanoparticle technology has been applied to cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment, then gives particular attention to newer biomimetic platforms whose biological features add targeting or interface functions. Rather than presenting a single experiment, it organizes a field in which one carrier may support imaging, sensing, drug delivery, or combinations of these tasks. Its principal synthesis is that nature-inspired surfaces can augment the standard advantages of nanoscale formulation, potentially helping address intertwined cardiovascular conditions with more specific interventions. The significance lies in connecting material design to a large and heterogeneous clinical burden.
