‘Plug and Play’ Nanoparticles Could Make It Easier To Tackle Various Biological Targets
Researchers at UC San Diego have developed modular nanoparticles that can be easily customized to target various biological entities, such as tumors, viruses, or toxins. This “plug and play” approach allows for rapid modification by attaching different proteins to the nanoparticle surface, making the process more efficient and versatile for applications like targeted drug delivery and vaccine development. The nanoparticles showed promise in suppressing tumor growth in mice, and the technology holds potential for broader therapeutic uses.
